Shades of Everything
Videos are essentially color in motion, but can we capture those colors in a single still image? That's exactly what I tried to achieve by calculating the average pixel color of every frame in a video, then mapping those colors over time. I couldn't have anticipated just how effectively these color timelines tell the stories of the videos they represent. Music videos are particularly spectacular thanks to their quick cuts and strong colors. Special thanks to Peter Slattery for lending his creative coding to this project.
