Reaper: Drone Warfare
Video games have long been part of the U.S. military's arsenal of recruiting tools. America's Army and the Air Force Airman Challenge are just two in a long line of mediocre games leveraging the military's cool factor to bump enlistment numbers. Unsurprisingly, they don't bother to highlight themes like the oftentimes blurry boundaries between civilians and embedded enemy forces. This project features content like the Obama-era policy on drone strikes and figures from the enormous U.S. Defense Budget hiding in plain sight on packaging for a game that, while fictional, still seems unsettlingly real.
